Peru State Game Against Avila University

On Saturday, October 5, I drove to Falls City and visited for the first time the beautiful high school stadium, Jug Brown Stadium.

I enjoyed the game and working with the good folks in the press
box.  I certainly look forward to spotting in the new Oak Bowl press box.

After a rather dismal first half--no bright spots either for the game or for the weather--the sun broke through, turning the day beautiful and lighting a fuse for the Bobcats.

Peru won 24-7 over Avila University,
allowing no offensive points, the seven coming from an interception in the first half.  The Bobcats scored twenty-four points in the second half.

I posted two sets of photographs, one of the game and the people who attended and the other of the Athletic and Academic awards Peru State student athletes earned.  President Dan Hanson and Elaine Hanson took part in the mid-field ceremony.

Peru State graduate Kent Stutheit, now director of the Fall City High School Band, sang the National Anthem.  The band also performed during halftime. I enjoyed talking a bit with Kent and also with long-time Peru State friend, Floyd Vrtiska.

We will work on getting Floyd a Peru State jacket!
